For our very first recipe - Spreading joy this holiday, high school senior @may.jacobss shared one of her favorite recipes, a secret chocolate cake, and what it means to her.
Le Gateau de Chocolat de Joëlle
Ingredients
250gr chocolate
250gr butter
180gr sugar
1 tbs cinnamon
1 tbs flour
5 eggs
Nuts, optional
Salt
Powdered Sugar
Directions
In a bowl, whisk the sugar and eggs together. In a pan, melt the butter and stir in the chocolate until combined. Incorporate the chocolate mixture into the whisked sugar and eggs, mix until it thickens naturally. Stir in flour and cinnamon, pour batter into parchment lined pans. At this stage, sprinkle nuts on top if you’d like. Bake in the oven at 180°C (350°F) for about 30-40 min until done. Finish with salt and dust with powdered sugar.
